For over 15 years now Barbara Schmidt is successfully active for the jewellery sector as designmanager and designconsultant. After her aprenticeship and journeytime with the best of the branch i.e. Günter Krauss, Prof. Friedrich Becker she studied jewellery design in the Zeichenakademie in Hanau and also achieved the „Meister“. Since then she is internationally freelancing in conceptualizion, management and training. She rounded up her practical competence with her postgarde studies of Designmanagement MA in Birmingham University of Central England and achieved a distinction.

In the area of her core competence: jewellery design and designmanagement Barbara Schmidt offers consulting, workshops, trainings and lectures both in German and English language.

Barbara Schmidt initiated several seminars and workshop projects. She successfully consults presentations. For the “Inhorgenta Europe” the trade fair in Munich she initiated and runs the „Design Podium“ and the „Brand new – new brand“ platform for up-and-coming designers.

Since 2005 she manages the Academy for Design in Munich, an interdisciplinary design course over one or two years for educated crafts people. www.hwk-muenchen.de/akademien
